About Us

The properties of Scenic Hideaways are owned by husband and wife, Mike and Skippy Leibfried. Both are 1979 graduates of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

The Cottage on Lake Galena and The Cottage at Streamwalk are the results of Mike and Skippy's extensive background in high-end custom home building and real estate development. We enjoy operating these two special cottage properties as our "retirement projects." Our two adult sons, Bob and Kurt, often assist in the operation of our properties.

Following Mike's corporate career in custom building and development, Mike and Skippy built custom homes in The Galena Territory Resort from 1991–2002. The purchase of a unique, exceptional lake-view lot within the resort led to the development of The Cottage on Lake Galena.

In 1991 we purchased rural River Bluff land along the Wisconsin River within Wisconsin's “Driftless Area” within the Township of Woodman, Wisconsin, where we have now retired. In 2020 we purchased an adjacent and exceptional 100-acre property where we developed The Cottage at Streamwalk. Our home is only about 5 minutes (and out of sight) from The Cottage at Streamwalk, and we are generally around for assistance if requested.
